Bnei Akiva Calls For Granting Pollard Waiver Head of Trump-Netanyahu Meeting

Hagay Hacohen - Jerusalem Post - February 28, 2019

"The trust as well as the good and warm relations between the two countries and leaders must be expressed by allowing Pollard to come to Israel," the petition read.

The southern chapter of the Bnei Akiva movement released a petition calling for granting the former spy Jonathan Pollard a waiver to immigrate to Israel ahead of the March meeting between Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and US President Donald Trump.

Saying it is time "to bring Jonathan Pollard home," supporters asked Netanyahu to make the request from Trump during their future meeting. Convicted in 1987 for espionage, Pollard was incarcerated until 2015 when he was released on strict parole conditions.

Netanyahu requested Pollard be allowed to immigrate to Israel in 2018 and was refused by The Department of Justice's Treaty Transfer Office.
