Where to Find Jonathan Pollard in the Siddur

When Esther Pollard interviewed on Radio Moreshet (http://www.freepollard.net/media/moreshet24-shana.mp3)

this past weekend, she made a call to the religious public and its organizations and institutions for a concerted prayer effort at this critical time. Jonathan has just entered his 24th year of a life sentence and is in very poor health.

Throughout the Radio Moreshet program, listeners were invited to call in with their comments. One caller, a lovely lady, pointed out that Pollard is already in the Siddur (the Jewish prayer book). In fact, she said, he is a natural part of the Shmoneh Esrei (the daily prayers which are said three times a day.) Once you know where to find Pollard, she said, it is very easy to include a prayer for his immediate release and speedy return to Israel.

Heres the secret of where to find Pollard which this saintly caller shared with the listening public in Jerusalem:

Look at the introductory verse to the Shmoneh Esrei:

אדני שפתי תפתח ופי יגיד תהלתך

My Lord, open my lips that my mouth may declare Your praise

Notice the word פי pi in this verse: אדני שפתי תפתח ופי יגיד תהלתך

Pi consists of the letters פ (pay) and י (yod) and means mouth.

The פ (pay) stands for Pollard and the י (yod) stands for Yehonatan.

When a person prays regularly, they say this verse, every day, three times a day.

From now on, the caller suggested, every time you pray and you say this verse,

אדני שפתי תפתח ופי יגיד תהלתך

when you see the word פי keep in mind that the word פי stands for Pollard Yehonatan. Have in mind that you are dedicating your Shmoneh Esrei prayer to his merit for a speedy release in good health and a swift return home to Jerusalem without delay. (Amain!)

Furthermore, she said, you should have in mind that since your mouth, or your פי is now engaged not only in praying Shmoneh Esrei to HaShem, but also in participating in the mitzvah of Pidyan Shvuyim, in that merit may HaShem hear and answer all of your prayers to the good, for Yehonatan ben Malka Pollard, for all of Israels captives and MIAs, for all of Cholei Am Yisrael, for all of Am Yisrael and for yourself and your loved ones amongst them. Amain!

Now that you know where to find Pollard in the Siddur, please share this little secret with as many family and friends as you can.

Dont let a day go by without Jonathan Pollard in your prayers! Amain!
