NCYI Message to Rabbinical Leaders Regarding Tefilos for Yomim Norayim

Sept. 10, 2007

Rabbanim Chashuvim,

As we prepare ourselves and our kehilas for the Yomim Norayim, let our tefilos include our brothers who are missing in action in Eretz Yisrael. We again encourage you to keep in mind Yonatan ben Malka Pollard who languishes in an American prison. The National Council of Young Israel has prepared flyers, tefilahs and letters that can be distributed to your baale batim and can be posted in your shul. Have a good YomTov.

Dear Friends,

Shalom.

Attached, please find an article written by Dov Hikind, member of the New York State Assembly.

Mr. Hikind visited Jonathan Pollard on July 31, 2007. I believe the article speaks for itself.

I encourage each of you to slowly read Mr. Hikind's article. Please visit the Pollard website: jonathanpollard.org and take note of the history of the case. Please click on the comparative sentences charts and on the calls for release page.

On the latter page, you will see the list of individuals, many of them whom you know and respect, that have written and called for his release. [This link] will lead you to a recent interview Rabbi Pesach Lerner, Executive Vice President, of the National Council of Young Israel gave on the Pollard Situation.

If you wish more information about the Pollard cause, please contact Rabbi Lerner at execvp@youngisrael.org or 212-929-1525.

We request that you share with your congregants some of Pollard's story, and in the spirit of the Holiday---repentance, forgiveness, concern for the other, you offer a Prayer to the Al-Mighty, that He facilitate the release of Jonathan Pollard so that he may spend the rest of his life, in Israel, among family and friends.

Thank you
Shana Tova
