(IsraelNN.com) A delegation of Knesset members met with President Moshe Katzav today to discuss the issue of the ongoing imprisonment of Israeli agent Jonathan Pollard in a US federal penitentiary.
The purpose of the meeting, according to MK Uri Ariel, is to convince the president to raise the issue in a special meeting with the president of the United States. At such a meeting, MK Ariel said, President Katzav should give President George Bush the 2003 petition signed by 112 Israeli parliament members (out of 120) calling for Pollard's release.
The petition was initially prepared ahead of a meeting between Prime Minister Ariel Sharon and President George Bush. Sharon, however, left the petition behind.
