Bush Tells Rabbis He'll Look into Pollard Case

JPost.Com Staff - The Jerusalem Post - September 30, 2003

US President George W. Bush told US rabbis that he would look into the plight of Jonathan Pollard, but made no other comment about the chances of a pardon for the former Navy intelligence officer serving a life sentence for spying for Israel, the Jewish Telegraph Agency reported.

According to the Justice for Jonathan Pollard organization, Rabbi Ilan Feldman of Atlanta, GA brought up the Jonathan Pollard issue during a question and answer session.

He was echoed by Rabbi Steven Pruzanski of Teaneck, NJ, who told JTA that Bush twice became emotional during the hour-long meeting - once while discussing his recent trip to the site of the Auschwitz death camp and once when he acknowledged that people pray for him.
