Dear Jonathan,
Thank you for your fax dated December 24, 2001. Please let me assure you that I have acted on your behalf, on my own initiative, and only in your best interest. I was not asked by the Prime Minister to do so. Therefore I feel that your comments are not justified.
I have never hinted, not in the presence of journalists, or anyone else, that I am the Minister responsible for your case.
During my conversation with your lawyer, Mr. Larry Dub, I repeatedly indicated that everything that I have done or will do in the future, is wholly because of my personal concern and worry. You have always been close to my heart, therefore I am committed to do everything I can to assist you, even though I hold no official responsibilities. I will not abandon this mission until we see you back here, free among our people.
In friendship,
(signed)
Dani Naveh
Minister for Parliamentary Affairs.
