Letter to President Clinton from Larry Dub
October 2, 1995
Dear Mr. Clinton,
The undersigned represents Jonathan J. Pollard, prisoner number, 09185-016 who is currently serving a life sentence in the United States Penitentiary in Butner, North Carolina.
On behalf of my client, please accept this letter as a formal request and appeal for the commutation of Mr. Pollard's sentence to time served so that he may join his wife Esther and emigrate to Israel.
While I understand that the Pollard matter has been a regular subject on the agenda between officials from the United States and Israel, the time has come for you to actively participate in the peace process by releasing Mr. Pollard now. Such a gesture can't but help the government of Israel to make an equally bold gesture by releasing thousands of Palestinian prisoners including many women prisoners convicted of murder who are now serving life sentences.
I hope you understand that the people of Israel have place their trust, confidence and faith in the continuation of the peace process and have come to expect that if the Palestinian prisoners, many serving life sentences, are released, then the U.S. will allow Jonathan Pollard to be freed at once. Please do not disappoint them.
In the spirit of the Jewish New Year, when the Judgment of God descends upon all of mankind, may you indeed have the strength and wisdom to release Mr. Pollard now by commuting his sentence to time served.
Awaiting your reply.
Very truly yours,
Larry Dub
