Dear Mr. Ades:
As appalled as I was by the silence of the United Synagogue for Conservative Judaism on the Pollard issue, I was even more appalled by your letter of March 17, 1994 to President Clinton. Its tone of sycophancy could have done credit to a court Jew in the Middle Ages trying to curry favor with the provincial governor.
What is needed is not to tell President Clinton to do what he thinks is right - he will do that without your help - but to undo what the Jewish Community as a whole believes to be wrong.
