State Assembly of NY Calls for Release of Jonathan Pollard

THE ASSEMBLY
STATE OF NEW YORK
ALBANY

July 6, 1993

President Bill Clinton
The White House
1600 Pennsylvania Avenue, N.W.
Washington, D.C. 20500

Dear President Clinton,

On March 9, 1993 I and my colleagues from the New York State Assembly, signed a joint bi-partisan letter asking you to commute Jonathan Pollard's sentence to time already served.

Since that time I have made repeated efforts to personally hand deliver the letter to you. As a member of the New York State Assembly, a State which overwhelmingly voted for you, a delegate to the Democratic National Convention and

an early supporter of yours

, I am disappointed by what appears to be a policy of avoidance. After four months of delays, I am reluctantly mailing the letter to you.

I still would like to meet with you personally to discuss this urgent matter.

I again, urge you to commute Mr. Pollard's life sentence to time already served.

Thank you for your attention in this matter.

Sincerely,

(signed)
Sam Colman
Member of Assembly
