US Black Leader Appeals For Pollard Release

The Jerusalem Post - July 5, 1993

An American black leader has appealed to US President Bill Clinton to pardon convicted spy Jonathan Pollard, who is serving a life sentence for spying for Israel.

In a letter to Clinton, Benjamin L. Hooks, the retired executive director of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People, claimed that Pollard has been denied due process because "he was sentenced to life imprisonment without a trial by his peers."
