IMRA: No reply from US Embassy in Tel Aviv to US spying question

Dr. Aaron Lerner - IMRA - November 5, 2013

A copy of a document signed by then Secretary of State Condoleeza Rice, in which she gives explicit, detailed instructions to the US Embassy in Israel to penetrate and spy on Israel, most notably on all forms of Israeli telecommunications, was released by Wiki leaks in 2010 (See copy here.) In this document Rice gives American spies in Israel their tasking orders.

IMRA contacted the US Embassy in Tel Aviv and has made repeated attempts by telephone and email to inquire if the tasking orders in this cable are still active or if the espionage program against Israel has been cancelled. To date, no response has been received.

THE US SHOULD RELEASE JONATHAN POLLARD:

When Israel's operation in Washington involving Jonathan Pollard was revealed, Israel put an immediate stop to the program, publicly apologized, and promised never to repeat it.

To date the United States has yet to do the same with regard to its spying program against Israel.

At very least the US should immediately release Israel's agent, Jonathan Pollard.

Here is a copy of IMRA's inquiry as sent to the US Embassy via email:

Greetings,

Further to my telephone message:

As we mark the 10th anniversary of the cable by the Secretary of State Rice giving instructions to spy on Israel (below), I would like to ask if, since then, this order has been rescinded.
