Efforts to pressure US President Barack Obama to commute the life sentence of Israeli agent Jonathan Pollard shifted to the Internet on Sunday when pro-Pollard activists released a Youtube video.
The video includes clips and quotes about the Pollard case from several respected American leaders, including Congressman Anthony Weiner (Democrat-NY), former US attorney-general Michael Mukasey, former CIA director James Woolsey, Obama adviser Dennis Ross, and even the late defense secretary Caspar Weinberger, whose letter to Pollard's judges resulted in his life sentence.
The video is intended to influence public opinion in the US ahead of Obama's decision about whether to accept an official request for clemency from Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu that is expected this week.
