Posted May 6, 2008
Airing live from Jerusalem, Tuesday Night Live's Passover Program (TLN#16) celebrating the Holiday of Freedom was dedicated to one who lost his freedom because of his service to the State of Israel, Jonathan Pollard. Show hosts Jeremy Gimpel and Ari Abramowitz have done an outstanding job in putting together an informative, interesting, heart rending program. Well worth investing half an hour to view!

As an Israeli agent, Jonathan Pollard transferred vital security information to Israel which the US was obliged to share but was deliberately withholding. The information being withheld from Israel included Syrian, Iraqi, Libyan and Iranian nuclear, chemical, and biological warfare capabilities - being developed for use against Israel. It also included information on ballistic missile development by these countries and information on planned terrorist attacks against Israeli civilian targets.
When Pollard discovered this suppression of information and asked his superiors about it, he was told to "mind his own business", and that "Jews get nervous talking about poison gas; they don't need to know." He also learned that the objective of cutting off the flow of information to Israel was to severely curtail Israel's ability to act independently in defense of her own interests.
The median sentence for the offense that Jonathan committed (passing classified information to an ally) is 2 to 4 years. Jonathan is the only person in the history of the US to receive a for this offense. He is currently serving his 23rd year of a life sentence in a federal prison in Butner, North Carolina, with no end in sight. For Futher information see
